Rules, FAQs & Tips

Yes. Thanks to the MRTA (Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act), recreational cannabis is legal statewide for adults 21 and over. While medical cannabis has been around since 2014, recreational sales and delivery in Brooklyn fully expanded after licensed dispensaries began offering direct-to-door services in 2023.

• Medical Cannabis: Requires a medical card, allows higher-potency products, offers tailored options, and comes with lower taxes.
• Recreational Cannabis: Available to anyone 21+ with ID under standard purchase limits and taxes. Delivery is available from licensed dispensaries for both.

OC Dispensary is an adult-use dispensary. We serve customers 21 and older with valid ID. We do not fill medical prescriptions or require a medical card.

Think “tobacco-parity rule.” If you can smoke tobacco there, you can usually smoke cannabis too, but with restrictions.

Allowed:

• Any location where tobacco smoking is legal.

Not allowed:

• Parks, beaches, and public plazas
• Restaurants, bars, and workplaces (including dispensaries)
• Federally owned property and public housing
• Inside any motor vehicle, even if parked

Nope. Whether you’re from Queens or Quebec, as long as you’re 21+ with a valid government-issued photo ID, you can buy at licensed dispensaries and request delivery.

Legal dispensaries offering delivery will have:

• An official OCM license posted, often with a scannable QR code.
• Lab-tested product packaging with THC/CBD levels, batch numbers, and warnings.
• Professional staff verifying ID for both in-store and delivery orders.
• No cash-only “street-style” deliveries or unverified menus.

You’ll need a valid government-issued photo ID, like:

• Driver’s license
• Passport
• State ID

Tourists and locals both need to show ID upon delivery — even if they uploaded it during the ordering process.

Yes. Tourists 21+ with valid ID can place delivery orders just like residents.

• Purchase limits: Up to 3 ounces of flower or 24 grams of concentrate per transaction.
• Delivery rules: Same as locals — products are delivered to private addresses, never public spaces.
• Consumption laws: Public smoking rules apply equally to tourists and residents.

Delivery time depends on location, time of day, and day of the week.

• Typical range: 30 to 120 minutes
• Minimum orders: Usually $75–$100
• Expect delays during rush hour and weekends

If you spot mold, contamination, or other defects, contact the dispensary immediately. Licensed shops usually offer refunds or replacements. Tiny pests can occasionally appear in pesticide-free grows, but visible mold or spoilage is always a red flag.

Paranoia happens more often with high-THC strains or if you’re new to cannabis. Locals recommend:

• Starting with low-THC or balanced THC/CBD products
• Keeping doses small, especially with edibles
• Giving edibles extra time (they take longer to kick in)

Common interests include:

• Dosage guidance: Start low and go slow.
• Consumption method comparisons: Faster, stronger effects from vaping/dabbing compared to edibles.
• Strain lineage and grower details
• Low-dose edibles (5 mg or less)
• Brand comparisons of the same strain
• Updates on cannabis farmers’ markets and community events
